who we are, what we do, and why:

Amongst the underbelly of the universe, one of the great perceptions developed by a human about humanity comes from the perpetually bent genius of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson.

Who said:

"When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro."

That's as good of a place as any to start as introduction to Pensamplivox.com, the online dimension's home for Pensamplivox Records and Recording Group.

Here's the point: to document musical explorations and, dare it be said, innovations of a solid core of players, jokers and musicians, who, in making music a constant in their lives, have steadily been producing sonic art and expression (free and structured) since the early 90's.

Let me just take a moment to say that, I shit you not, there are literally thousands of hours of sounds pulled from the ether that are just sitting around in basement piles, shoeboxed in closets, camouflaged in heaps of CDs and cassettes, or irreplaceably lost to time.

Now it is the 21st Century, and still the urge to create and play and revel in music has taken us through many, many hours of effort. We find ourselves at the point to move another leap further, taking the current parts through the long haul and drawing upon the best of the past and putting it out there.

This site and this company are a continuing exercise in forward motion, and will keep going and growing towards the goal of making available the work of a talented bunch of idiots whose collective output have been blowing our minds forever, more or less in equal share with our favorite established bands and artists.

Tune on in, and dig around. And thanks.

 The story behind Pensamplivox:

At first it was a name that i had written down because it was a word that had caught my attention. When we were thinking of starting a record label, i had revisited this list of names for things. At this point, I was confused as to where i had originally heard the word and in what context. But I believed it was an early tape recorder or music device of some sort. So it seemed to fit.

After a while, i decided to do a search on the term and came across a completely different origin for the word that sparked the whole memory right back to the front of my brain. It was an episode of Pinky and the Brain. And, ya see, they find Brains parents who are two lab mice of course. And Brain is so intent on getting to know his long lost parents. The only problem is they don't speak human, they speak mouse. So Brain with all his infinite knowledge and wisdom, builds something to translate those little squeaks into human speak, more specifically English. This device is dubbed a "pensamplivox." And there you have it. The mystery is solved.
